COLLABORATE | You work closely with the Retention Strategist to manage the many moving parts of your clients’ retention programs, including providing briefs to email designers, routing creative for review and approval, and managing the campaign set-up and QA process to ensure a flawless execution and delightful customer experience. You maintain close ownership over the project management process for all of your clients’ campaigns.

MAXIMIZE | You understand not only your clients’ businesses, but know better than anyone the capabilities of their retention technology tools. What’s more, you work with your internal teams to ensure the functionality at your disposal (within an ESP or otherwise) is being utilized at the highest level for the best return.

What Success Looks Like

  • As an extension of their teams, understand your clients’ goals and what success looks like when making decisions.
  • Keep yourself up-to-date on industry standards, current technology and tips and tricks in the email world.

  • Strong knowledge of email marketing, ESPs, and best practices for email design and deliverability. Understanding of other messaging platforms, such as SMS and Messenger.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks with great attention to detail — if even a pixel is out of place, you raise hell.
  • Strong project management skills and the proven ability to drive momentum. Loves a good checklist — ability to follow documented processes to a T.
  • Hands-on experience executing A/B tests and analyzing results. Ability to maintain composure and continue to execute under pressure or periods of high stress. Willingness to dive in and find answers to complex problems where solutions may not yet be documented.
  • Relentless curiosity and an insatiable need to know more about your clients, their products, and their customers. Self starter that can work independently and collaborate with a team. Ability to prioritize short-term and long-term goals.
  • Highly motivated individual with strong understanding of direct-to-consumer needs. A willingness to reject work when it’s not good enough — and the ability to kindly articulate why: Clear is kind.

What You’ll Do

GROW | As a Growth Strategist, you’ll be the CEO of a highly skilled team of digital marketers and the CMO for CTC clients, operating from a strong basis of industry knowledge and relational confidence. The Growth Strategist acts as the catalyst for growth of our clients’ businesses. You are excited about the complexities of a business and love identifying solutions to growth problems. Both your team and your clients will look to you to point them in the right direction.

STRATEGIZE | You are not the hero for your client, you are the Strategist. Think Yoda. Your responsibility is to guide your client to identify and achieve success. A Strategist is calm, collected, and is not easily distracted by foam walls or obstacles. You are the temperature leader for your team and clients. You step into a room to set the stage for someone else to stand in the spotlight and be the hero. As a Growth Strategist, you have a love for serving the people around you. You may be the first one to climb to the top of the mountain, but you aren’t busy planting your flag; you are busy pulling up your teammates and clients to make sure that they can be there to plant their own flags. You’re always present to answer their questions and anticipate their needs. You seek to understand the inner workings of each member of your team, constantly fascinated by their internal motivators and their dreams.

CONNECT | Entrepreneurship can be a lonely path. Strategists are relational networkers who connect their clients to other entrepreneurs that will inspire them to keep going. You are sensitive to the dreams of your clients and teammates and connect them to resources and people that will help them get closer to dream achievement.

  • Collaborate with other CTC team members on optimization techniques and scaling strategies across ad accounts. You are always curious to learn more and understand that working together is almost always better than trying to solve difficult problems yourself.

What You’ll Do

DEVELOP | As the VP of Paid Media & Innovation, there are three big areas you influence the development of: your team, the systems and infrastructure of how your department interacts with the full agency, and yourself. Each is just as important as the other and all work in tandem to evolve and grow. Developing trust and being able to represent all voices on your team is an important part of retaining great talent and understanding the wins and challenges of moving forward. Creating systems and processes based on the people is necessary for the machine to work. Finally, being able to continue to stretch your own learning muscles and consume information outside of the CTC walls is a vital part of contributing back to the team at a high level and exploring departmental growth.

ANTICIPATE | As the VP of Paid Media is often playing a chess match. You are thinking about what the next move is and what the outcome would entail. Every action has a reaction. As the VPoPM, determining what the best move for your team and the implications it has on the business at large is part of your daily match. You are focused on long-term solutions, recognizing that they might take time to create and install, but worth the effort and investment to do so. What’s unique about this role is that you’re not only focused on operational excellence of today and the current paid media landscape, you’re also looking ahead to what the future of paid media can be, that’s where the “innovation piece” comes from.

PARTNER | As the VP of Paid Media, an important principle to follow is that you cannot proceed alone. Buy-in is an essential part of getting a group to dance in the same direction. You must partner with your team and other department heads to help pave the way for what is next. Seeking insight from the “do-ers” and using that intel to create and inform evolving infrastructure and systems that yield more success is an ongoing part of the role. The VPoPM is transparent- as clear is kind- with deliverables and expectations knowing that the only way to guarantee success is through accountability and ownership department wide.

What Success Looks Like
  • It is up to the VPoPM to identify where their time is spent to result in the highest impact for CTC. You have to be self motivated and eager to make things happen. This could look like working with the department to execute on holiday planning across all paid media, developing a new system to counter buyer burnout, or following up with next steps for department buy-in on a new system.
  • As our VPoPM, you will develop an understanding of the current systems and processes in place, building personal relationships with the buyers and clients, and understanding the flow between members of the growth teams. After a period of observing, you will purposely poke holes in the paid media infrastructure to find ways to break it down and build it up stronger than before. This role will gain an understanding of top performers and how to insert better training and development in the most impactful way. You will collaborate with your peers in leadership on big initiatives that will have influence on the company at large; including but not limited to annual planning, budget allocations, and resourcing.
  • Beyond the operational excellence of today, this role will also be looking toward the future.
