On September 30, 2026, OpenAI announced a significant ChatGPT Ads update, rolling out bulk product campaign creation, virtual try-on shopping for clothing and accessories, and expansion into 7 new Southeast Asia markets. For ecommerce brands running product feed campaigns in ChatGPT, this means you can now upload a spreadsheet and launch multiple campaigns simultaneously, while shoppers in 65 or more countries can now virtually try on your products before clicking through.
These updates mark ChatGPT's shift from an experimental ad channel to a full-stack commerce platform. Bulk campaign creation removes the manual setup barrier that has limited adoption for brands with large product catalogs. Virtual try-on adds a product interaction layer that no other AI ad platform currently offers, and the Southeast Asia expansion puts ChatGPT Ads within reach of one of the fastest-growing ecommerce markets in the world. You can track every ChatGPT Ads change this year in our ChatGPT Ads 2026 update tracker.
Until now, brands setting up ChatGPT product feed campaigns had to create each campaign and ad group manually inside Ads Manager. The new bulk upload feature changes that. Advertisers can download a spreadsheet template from Campaigns, then Bulk uploads inside their ChatGPT Ads Manager account, populate it with their product feed structure, and upload it to generate multiple campaigns and ad groups at once, with ad templates created automatically.
For 7-9 figure brands managing thousands of SKUs across multiple product categories, this is the most operationally significant ChatGPT Ads update since product feeds became required in September 2026. A brand running separate campaigns for apparel, accessories, and footwear no longer has to set each up individually. The bulk sheet also accepts ad templates, which means creative assets and targeting can be pre-structured before upload.
To get started, go to Campaigns, then Bulk uploads inside ChatGPT Ads Manager, choose Bulk sheet, and download the Product feed template. Ad groups and templates are generated automatically from your upload.
OpenAI launched virtual try-on for clothing and accessories inside ChatGPT on October 1, 2026, on both mobile and web interfaces. When a shopper discovers a clothing or accessory product in ChatGPT, a "Try on" button appears on the product listing. The shopper takes or uploads a selfie, and ChatGPT Images generates a virtual try-on photo using that reference. The reference photo is saved for future try-ons, making the experience faster each time.
For ecommerce brands, the implication is direct: shoppers who might have hesitated before buying apparel online can now see how your product looks on them inside ChatGPT, before ever visiting your site. Only brands with optimized product feeds in ChatGPT Ads surface in these discovery moments. If your catalog is not feeding into ChatGPT Ads, your products are invisible when this happens.
Google has offered virtual try-on in Search for some time, but ChatGPT is the first AI chat platform to bring this feature to conversational shopping. It signals that ChatGPT is becoming a full product discovery environment, not just a research tool.
ChatGPT Ads expanded to 7 new Southeast Asia markets and Taiwan: Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Taiwan. ChatGPT Ads are now available in 65 or more countries globally, including all major ecommerce markets across Europe, North America, India, the Middle East, Australia, and now Southeast Asia.
Southeast Asia is one of the highest-growth ecommerce regions in the world. Approximately 80% of shoppers in Southeast Asia use AI tools for product recommendations and comparisons, and 24% are already using generative AI like ChatGPT as part of their shopping journey. Brands that establish their product feeds in these markets early will have a first-mover advantage as CPMs remain low in newly opened regions.
The September 30 update also introduced three additional improvements for advertisers.
Product review status. If you have product feed campaigns set up, you can now view product review status in the Products tab of Ads Manager. This makes it possible to track exactly where a product is in the review process and understand why specific products were rejected, rather than guessing which items are failing approval.
Separate account, brand, and legal names. Advertisers can now manage three distinct names in Settings: an internal account name (no review required to change), a public brand name shown with ads (changes pause ad serving until approved), and a registered legal name for billing and verification (triggers full business review when changed). This is particularly useful for agencies managing multiple brands under one account or brands running regional campaigns under different brand names.
Conversion reporting beyond the campaign goal. Through the public Insights API, advertisers can now retrieve attributed conversion events beyond the campaign's selected optimization goal. For example, a campaign optimizing for add-to-cart can now also report on attributed purchases, giving you a fuller picture of revenue impact without changing campaign goals or optimization settings.

Bulk product campaign creation lets advertisers upload a spreadsheet to create multiple product feed campaigns and ad groups at once in ChatGPT Ads Manager. Access it at Campaigns, then Bulk uploads, choose Bulk sheet and download the Product feed template. Ad groups and templates are generated automatically from your upload.
A "Try on" button appears on product listings for clothing and accessories inside ChatGPT. Shoppers tap it, upload or take a selfie, and ChatGPT Images generates a photo showing how the item looks on them. The reference photo is saved for future try-ons. Only brands with active product feed campaigns in ChatGPT Ads can appear in these discovery moments.
ChatGPT Ads is now available in 65 or more countries. The October 2026 expansion added Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Taiwan. Full availability includes the United States, Canada, UK, major European markets, India, Australia, the Middle East, and most of Latin America.
Go to the Products tab inside ChatGPT Ads Manager. If you have product feed campaigns active, you will see a review status column for each product showing where it is in review and why it may have been rejected. Rejected products do not appear in ChatGPT shopping results or ads.
ChatGPT Ads is moving fast, and the brands that build their feed infrastructure and campaign structure now will have a structural advantage through Q4 and into 2027.
