On August 10, 2026, Amazon quietly auto-enrolled every active Sponsored Products campaign into the Amazon Influencer Program creator content placements. For ecommerce brands running Amazon ads, this means your product ads have been serving inside creator reviews, buying guides, and video content both on and off Amazon since that date, at your existing campaign bids, with no opt-in required and no advance notice.
Your Sponsored Products ads are now appearing inside creator-produced content across Amazon properties and affiliate placements off-platform. These placements sit alongside authentic product reviews and guides that creators have built audiences around, which can drive strong purchase intent. The catch: creator content placements carry different conversion rate profiles than standard search placements, and most brands are currently running them without any data segmentation to know whether they are helping or hurting.
Amazon made the change effective August 10, 2026, rolling it out silently with no campaign-level notification. The placement appears in Campaign Settings under Placements as "Amazon Influencer Program." By default it is now checked on for every Sponsored Products campaign. Ads reach shoppers watching influencer product hauls, gear guides, and review videos where creators have embedded shoppable Amazon links, extending distribution far beyond the traditional search results page and product detail page placements brands have long managed.
The reach expansion touches both on-Amazon surfaces and off-Amazon creator content through the Amazon Associates and Influencer Program ecosystem. Brands targeting specific audiences or managing tight efficiency targets had no opportunity to evaluate this placement before it went live.
Creator-adjacent placements are not inherently bad. Shoppers engaging with a creator's product review or buying guide are already in discovery or evaluation mode, which is a higher-intent context than passive browsing. If your product categories align with the creators serving those audiences, the placement can generate incremental revenue at your existing bid without additional spend.
The argument for testing before opting out: you have been running this placement for over a week already. Pull your placement-level performance data now. If the data shows acceptable ACOS and conversion rates from influencer placements, disabling it blind would cost you distribution with real upside.
Brands that opt out reflexively before checking placement data may be walking away from incremental revenue. Audit first, decide second.
Conversion rate profiles in creator content differ materially from search placements. A shopper clicking through from a creator's buying guide may be earlier in the funnel than someone who searched your exact product keyword on Amazon. If your campaign bidding strategy is calibrated to search-level CVR, you may be over-bidding for clicks that convert at a lower rate in creator placements, inflating your ACOS without surfacing in any aggregate campaign report until you segment by placement.
For brands running Performance-based campaigns with tight ACOS targets, unreviewed placement expansion is a real budget risk. The 7-figure and 8-figure brands managing Amazon as a meaningful revenue channel need placement-level visibility before this becomes a material efficiency drag heading into Q4.
If your Amazon ACOS moved between August 10 and today and you have not looked at placement segmentation, this is the first place to check.
