On October 2, 2026, Google expanded Merchant Center Loyalty Customer Match to AI Mode and Gemini Apps, growing program availability to 14 countries by adding India, Italy, the Netherlands, South Korea, and Spain. For ecommerce brands running loyalty programs, this means member-exclusive pricing and shipping benefits can now surface inside Google's AI-generated shopping results, putting your best offer in front of high-intent shoppers before they ever reach the traditional Shopping carousel.
AI Mode now shows your loyalty member pricing inside Google's AI-generated shopping responses, reaching shoppers before they ever see the traditional Shopping tab. Brands with loyalty data properly configured in Merchant Center can appear with member-exclusive prices highlighted directly in the AI answer. Brands without loyalty data uploaded will be invisible in this format through the Q4 peak season.

Loyalty Customer Match connects your existing loyalty program data to Google's shopping surfaces in three layers. First, you upload loyalty program details to Merchant Center, including member pricing, shipping tiers, and point values. Second, Google uses that data to show enhanced listings across Google Search, the Shopping tab, Google Wallet, and now AI Mode and Gemini Apps. Third, you can upload a Customer Match list of existing loyalty members so Google identifies them by email and shows their personalized member price when they search.
The program is free to set up in Merchant Center. Google charges no additional fee, and non-advertising merchants running free listings are also eligible to participate.
The October 2 documentation update added two new qualifying membership types that substantially expand who can participate. Loyalty points earned on completed orders now qualify, as do milestone-based memberships where a customer reaches a tier after spending a defined amount. Previously, the program was primarily designed for tiered memberships requiring explicit enrollment. Free-to-join programs are permitted, and programs requiring eventual payment (including auto-converting free trials) are excluded.
If your brand uses a points-earn-on-purchase model, a tiered rewards system, or a flat-rate membership with pricing benefits, you likely qualify and can set up in Merchant Center now at no cost.
A September 2026 BrightEdge study found that only 1.28% of products visible in traditional Google Shopping results also appear in AI Mode for the same search queries. AI Mode surfaces an average of 3.9 products per query, compared to 27.8 in traditional search. The brands that appear in those 3.9 slots with a member price advantage visible inside the AI answer have a conversion edge that competitors without configured loyalty data cannot match.
The holiday season accelerates AI Mode usage because shoppers are actively comparing more options. A brand surfacing a member-exclusive price inside an AI response during Black Friday or Cyber Monday research is reaching the shopper at the exact moment of decision. For a deeper look at the visibility gap, see why your shopping products are barely visible in AI Mode.
The October 2 expansion adds India, Italy, the Netherlands, South Korea, and Spain to the program, joining the eight previously supported markets: the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, and Australia. Japan operates a separate loyalty points program tracked independently. Merchants in all 14 countries can now configure loyalty program data in Merchant Center, though AI Mode and Gemini Apps placement is currently US-only.
For international brands, this expansion means European and Asian markets can now show loyalty pricing in Shopping tab results and free listings, with AI Mode eligibility expected to expand as Google extends AI Mode globally through 2026 and 2027.

No. As of the October 2, 2026 update, loyalty participation is explicitly open to merchants who do not actively advertise on Google. Non-advertisers can enroll their loyalty programs through Merchant Center and have benefits appear in free listings. In the US, eligible programs can also appear in AI Mode and Gemini Apps.
Standard Customer Match uploads customer emails to build audiences for ad targeting and bid adjustments. Loyalty Customer Match is a Merchant Center feature that connects loyalty program data (member pricing, points, shipping tiers) to Google's shopping surfaces, displaying personalized member prices to identified loyalty members when they search. They serve different functions and are configured in separate parts of the Google ecosystem.
As of October 2, 2026, the program covers 14 countries: the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Australia, India, Italy, the Netherlands, South Korea, and Spain. Japan has a separate loyalty points program. AI Mode and Gemini Apps placement is currently US-only, with other placements (Shopping tab, free listings) available across all 14 countries.
Your program likely qualifies if it offers member-exclusive pricing, tiered shipping benefits, or loyalty points that earn on completed purchases. Free-to-join and paid membership programs both qualify, as long as they do not require eventual payment through auto-converting free trials. The October 2 update added points-on-purchase and milestone-based membership tiers as qualifying types, expanding eligibility beyond the original explicit-enrollment model.
